Michael Joseph Jackson (n. 29 august 1958, d. 25 iunie 2009) a fost supranumit Regele muzicii pop. A debutat in muzica la varsta de 5 ani alaturi de fratii sai in formatia “The Jackson 5″. In anul 1971 si-a inceput cariera solo, albumele lansate “Off the Wall - 1979, Thriller - 1982, Bad - 1987, Dangerous - 1991 si History - 1995, au devenit cele mai vandute albume din intreaga lume.Videoclipurile ce l-au facut faimos in industria muzicala sunt urmatoarele: “Beat it”, “Billie Jean”, “Thriller”, “Black or White” si “Scream”. Pe parcursul vietii sale, prin intermediul turneului “Dangerous World Tour” a donat milioane de dolari in scopuri caritabile. Desi in anul 1993 respectiv 2005, Michael Jackson a fost acuzat pentru pedofilie, ancheta penala a fost inchisa deoarece nu existau dovezi. Cariera sa muzicala i-a adus artistului urmatoarele premii si reusite: a fost inclus in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame de doua ori, 13 premii Grammy, 13 singlel-uri, a vandut peste 750 milioane de unitati din intreaga lume si cu albumul “Thriller” a ajuns in Guinness World Records pentru cel mai vandut album din lume.
Pe data de 25 iunie 2009 Michael Jackson a suferit un stop cardiac iar la ora 14.26 in aceeasi zi a fost declarat decesul.
